I thought I'd get everyone's opinion on this... Do you display your dolls with or without stands?
I just got my first Carpatina girl on Friday and she just doesn't look right sitting down. I also noticed that the outfits I got for Morgaine and Chiyo also look better when they're standing up. So I was starting to think maybe all the outfits look better when the doll is standing.
Before I run out and buy them, I wanted to get everyone's opinion and experince. Do keeping your dolls on a stand harm them any? Leave an indent on the body if they're kept too long on the stand?

It's just my opinion, of course, but I love to see the dolls standing without the stands. The American Girls stand well without them, but I don't know about how well other kinds of dolls stand up without help. The stands take up more room, also, and can get in the way of the displays of accessories or clothes. I do love displaying the outfits on the dress forms. They stay so neat and pretty on them, and look great!

Mine just stand and sit without any stands. Only ones with stands are my two Engel dolls.

With stands here. I like stands only because it ensures that the dolls wont fall. I have mine displayed on a hutch on my desk. The desk isn't wobbly, but does wobble a little when things get pushed into it (like the chair when I get up, or the drawers), and I just like to make sure the dolls wont fall down.
I use those cheapo white stands, so they pretty much blend into my white walls.
I think the AGs look much better standing up than sitting as they have those pretty outfits to show off.

Depends- if being displayed, sometimes with stands. it really depends on how well they are able to stay up.

No stands. If they cannot stand up, they get restrung. I absolutely hate seeing dolls trussed up in doll stands...

I use stands when the dolls aren't being played with now. Before when I didn't use stand even the wind coming in the window would sometimes unbalance them just enough to make them fall. And I live close to the train track so the house does shake at times.
I also use the cheaper white stand, but if you buy the ones for Bears for the AG's they are wider and won't crease the bodies. I buy them from the doll shops and they are made well. The bear ones for the 18" are around $3. For my thinner 18" dolls (AE's, Maggic Attic's, so on) I buy the regular ones.

I've been contemplating doll stands too-all my dolls stand well, except if they have the heeled slippers on then it takes some manuvering. However, my cats don't like them to stand-and typically are seen on the shelf with them-and they are all knocked over
They love Licorice's bed-thats what they are actually TRYING to get!

Mine are find with out the stands. And plus, why should I buy my dolls stands when I can buy a new doll- or some more outfits!

I use stands only if I can arrange them to not be seen. As I said in another post, while my girls stand well, they are daredevils and love to shelf dive (we live in an apartment, and other people slam their doors)
I do my best to put the stand on the doll before the dress, but when they wear pants it takes some creative arrangement. My Molly is apparently on a stand and I didn't realize it- she stands on her own, but her wiggly legs don't deal very well with the downstairs doors. Marisol is standing on her own next to her.
